Claude
Young Jr. was born in the musically acclaimed city of
Detroit (USA) in July 1970. Growing up, surrounded by
various musical influences exposed to him by his father
(the legendary Detroit radio-deejay Claude Young), and
mother Janice, who was a member of staff at the city's
largest record distributor during the late 70s &
80s, he gained a passion for various styles of music.
Spending
his teen years at school as well as being a commercial
radio-deejay he was drawn to electronic music and his
love for it made him one of its brightest young entities.

His
early production credits include edits and remixes for
some of Detroit Techno’s greatest artists and
labels including Kevin Saunderson, Jay (Vice) Denham,
Random Noise Generation, 430 West Records, and a host
of others.
His first solo offering was produced in 1992 for 7th
City Records, together with long time friend and label
owner Dan (DBX) Bell, as Brother From Another Planet.
He moved on to form Dow and Utensil Records with partner
David Whiteside in the later part of 1993.
In
1995 he co-founded Friction Records with the man he
credits for helping him get his breakthrough in production,
another long time friend, Anthony (Shake) Shakir. Their
first release, the Begin EP, is a well sought after
record by many collectors. |

His
first European offering was in 1994 for the Eindhoven-based
DJAX-UP-BEATS, a label renowned all over the world
for its impressive line up of artists and classic
productions from around the globe. In the summer of
1997 Claude signed to the newly formed Belgian label
Elypsia, and released his first album entitled Soft
Thru. He has also been called upon to act as a remixer
for some of the greatest names in electronic music
including Carl Craig, Random XS, Gary Numan, DJ Skull,
Acid Junkies, Joey Beltram, Jacobs Optical Stairway,
Rue East, Inner City, and a host of others. His talents
do not end in the production studio, as he has rapidly
become one of the most sought after deejays in the
world. With his residencies at the Orbit in Leeds
(UK) and Voodoo in Liverpool (UK) he still manages
to find time to play in various parts of the world
like Germany, Japan, Austria, Switzerland, Ireland,
Spain, Italy, Canada, Australia, Holland, Belgium
and the occasional return trip to America. His style
has been described as fast, complex, and innovative
often leaving crowds speechless. With plans for a
new project label in the works as well as branching
into the visual aspects of electronic music, Claude
Young Jr. will be a name to look out for in years
to come.
